Personal Art Experimentation

  Ink is defined as a form of colored liquid that can be used for an abundance of different things ; from writing to drawing. Ink is the basis for most daily functions that include reading and writing. It is a part of our communication and a part of our creative outlet.  A person can often times not give ink the proper credit it deserves. Ink is not just what comes out from the tip of a pen, it can also be anything printed. Overall, it is a bery useful tool/item.  Nowadays, there are all types of different pens that can be used. From fineliners and dip pens, to markers and brush pen, the tips of the pens can also be different materials. Felt tips, ballpoints etc. You can even just use a brush and some ink bottles.  Fineliner pens are incredibly thin, mostly ranging from about 0.03mm size up to 0.8mm. Doodling is known for many different things, but personally the best definition is to draw any kind of marks in any kind of way that just feels good and natural. It does not have to have a purpose or a meaning. It can be composed entirely of unrecognizable scribbles and lines.  It's almost like zoning out and daydreaming and it also works like fidgeting in a way. For me it always helped me focus more. I like doodling people, patterns, eyes, and repeated symbols form and reappear.  In a way I feel like doodling is connected to opening up (maybe even closing up sometimes) the brain and somewhat letting loose. To just let your hand freely move and just have a pictorial creation come out. "Doodles are like fragments of a map that show how someone’s mind works."

  Pastels are a medium that fall between both paintings and drawings. The finished pieces tend to have a similar look to paintings, despite the process being different. Pastels are more of a “drawing” tool rather than a “painting” one. A pastel usually consists of powdered pigment and binder in a stick form. The same powdered pigment used in most art supplies is also used in pastel, with the difference being that pastels in appearance are a cross between a stick of chalk and a crayon. I like the convenience of being able to hold them the same way you would hold a pencil or a crayon.  Pastels come in 4 forms: hard pastels, soft pastels , pastel pencils , and oil pastels . My personal favorites are soft pastels and oil pastels. There are little differences between the four types, but they are still prevalent enough to distinguish the types and be unique. Colors are an element of art that I love to play with. They are the reflection of light. To me they are very essential in my paintings, especially if I use acrylic paint. I try to use colors to represent different senses and emotions. I try to guide the art viewer gently, but I also like to leave some space for a viewer’s own interpretation. I might have been feeling something specific towards a painting I made and someone else can see the exact same painting but feel something else completely. The whole point is to use different colors to convey different emotions. One of my favorite mediums to use in order to do this is acrylic paint. Acrylic paint is very versatile and its known for its fast drying time (which is very convenient for me because I am impatient).  You can use acrylic paint on pretty much any surface as long as it isn't too glossy or greasy. I’ve always loved both abstract and surreal art. Mostly because it gives me a chance to let go, and break the rules, to be purely creative and unconstrained. Painting or drawing with an abstract style allows me to work using my emotions and showcase all my different thoughts and feelings through color, texture and shape. Sometimes it makes sense and other times it doesn’t. Sometimes the colors work out and a lot of the time they don’t. What matters to me is using art as a way to portray my emotions; even the ones that I bury and try to ignore. I like to use my artwork as a representation of my own feelings, emotions, and thoughts.
